Participants explore the mission of SkillsUSA; learn to use the multitude of resources available and engage in hands-on activities. The training utilizes interactive sessions and provides answers to questions such as: How do I get students involved? What is the best way to organize our activities? What does a chapter set out to do? What is a Program of Work? What materials are available to help students? This is a must for beginning or novice advisors wanting to start a chapter or better manage an existing chapter.

CMI Advanced: One-day Seminar
This seven-hour workshop is designed for educators who have previously attended the CMI Basic Seminar or have previous experience as a SkillsUSA advisor. Through group interaction and hands-on experiences, participants will learn to identify and develop effective chapter management techniques, such as incorporating Chapter Activity Planner and Personal Leadership Inventory, developing an effective Program of Work, and facilitating activities using the Cycle of Learning. Participants learn how to direct lessons using adolescent leadership research, as well as observe and conclude how management techniques apply to activities. Additionally, they will practice strategies for the inclusion of relevant stakeholders, such as including parents and alumni in chapter events or involving business partners in professional development activities.
