Answers to frequently asked questions about airport travel for studentsattending the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. Get them here.

Registration Fee and Name Badges

  • Registration for the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference is $115 for all participating individuals and guests. This fee includes name badge, lanyard, program, tote bag, Worlds of Fun park ticket, bus transportation schedule, and entrance to all conference events, Awards and Recognition booklet and Medallion magazine. No individual tickets are sold for the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday, June 22. Tickets to the awards session on Friday, June 25, are available for $10 each on a limited basis. Purchase them at SkillsUSA Headquarters in Bartle Hall 2100 by Friday, June 25, at 4 p.m. Also, individual tickets for SkillsUSA Night at the Worlds of Fun park on Thursday, June 24, may be purchased in Bartle Hall 2100 for $20. Note: The conference name badge is your entry to all functions and must be worn at all times. If a badge is lost, please report to room 2103A in Lobby 2100 of H. Roe Bartle Hall for a replacement.

  • Your state association director will be given all state registration information and material. Conference participants need to obtain this material (items such as your name badge, program and conference information) from the state association director at the designated state meeting time.

Parking in Downtown Kansas City

  • Parking passes for conference week will be sold on-site only in Lobby 2100 for the following parking lots:


    • Municipal Auditorium Garage, under Barney Allis Plaza (covered parking, unlimited in and out privileges with entrance/exit on Wyandotte between 12th and 13th Streets during your conference.)  Cards are activated Monday-Friday, June 21-25, 2009 only.  The cost will be $45 for the week.  A plastic card is provided and must be  returned to parking attendant the last time used. 
    • Cathedral Parking Passes #35. Monday-Friday, June 21-25.  Located at 13th and Broadway Streets.
    • The surface lot south of the Conference Center is no longer available due to ballroom expansion.

  • Passes will be on sale from the SkillsUSA Conference Offices, located this year in Room 2100 (north side of 13th Street), during the following days and times:
  • Sunday, June 20, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
    Monday, June 21, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m

Opening Ceremony

  • Tuesday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m.
  • There are no tickets for the Opening Ceremonies on Tuesday – you must be a registered participant. (the cost to register for the conference is $115).
  • The entire opening ceremony will be broadcast live via Internet. For details, click here.
  • Directions to Kemper Arena

Competitions

  • The majority of competitions begin at 9 a.m. on June 24 in Bartle Hall and Municipal Audtorium. Note: Some competitions begin on Wednesday the 24. See the official program for details.
  • Ribbon cutting (TBD)
  • Admission is free and open to the public.

SkillsUSA Night at Worlds of Fun

  • It takes place Thursday, June 24.
  • Tickets cost $20.
  • To purchase tickets go to the booth outside Room 2103A.
  • Entry to Worlds of Fun for SkillsUSA Night is at 5 p.m.

Awards Ceremony

  • Friday, June 25 at 6 p.m. at Kemper Arena.
  • Tickets cost $10.
  • To purchase tickets go to the booth outside Room 2103A.
  • You can also purchase tickets at the door at Kemper Arena.
  • The entire awards ceremony will be broadcast live via Internet. For details, click here.

Motorized Scooters Available
For our guests who may need special assistance, Chuck's Mobility Center in Kansas City, Missouri,has available for rent wheelchairs and motorized scooters during the conference. To receive more information, or to make a reservation, contact Chuck at 877-788-5275, or 913-859-0290. Weekly rental cost for scooters is $150 that includes delivery and pick up. Make sure to mention SkillsUSA for special pricing.
