Alumni Launch 5K Race
SkillsUSA Alumni will be holding twilight 5K Champions Run during national conference. The race takes place on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at 6 p.m. at Liberty Memorial Park, across from Union Station and the Westin Hotel. Get the details.

SkillsUSA Seeks Talented Video Journalists
SkillsUSA seeks student video journalists to work at the SkillsUSA National Conference. These students will work with SkillsUSA partner SchoolTube to cover the 2008 conference, and their work will be used in a conference wrap-up video to be shown at the Friday night awards ceremony, as well as in the National Conference Souvenir DVD that is sold following the event.

Students who participate will receive a complimentary national conference registration, a free polo shirt, a gift certificate and other recognition items. There is no travel stipend available. Students who apply should be Television Video Production students who will have a flexible schedule during conference week, in order to accept daily assignments from our video news desk. SkillsUSA is collecting best practices from SkillsUSA chapters on effective ways to raise funds to support your local activities. By sharing your most effective fundraisers, you can help other chapters! We want to know what you do, when you do it, who is involved, how it works, how much money you raise, and your best tips for other chapters that might save them time or help them to raise more money.

Peer Recruitment Video Contest Winners
Through the Peer Recruitment Video Competition, local SkillsUSA members were invited to make a recruiting video that would get other students excited about the SkillsUSA program. Discover an exciting new chapter model designed for college/postsecondary: Service Learning
Many community colleges engage students in community service. But, does your campus use it as a vehicle for learning? Recent studies show that a Service Learning component improves student achievement and campus retention. Learn how Central New Mexico Community College and SkillsUSA have teamed up to create a national model where community service is an integral piece of classroom instruction. Workshop will run 9am to 1pm. Cost is $50 per registrant.

Are you giving students all they need? Help them succeed through the Career Skills Education Program (CSEP)
This online curriculum provides an easy way for instructors to ensure that students learn the basic employment and life skills that lead to career success. Workshop will run 9am to 3pm. Cost is $139 per registrant and includes lunch and one free online license.

New SkillsUSA Clothing Styles for Students
The SkillsUSA Supply Service is reaching out to our student members with new casual clothing styles for everyday wear. They have introduced a new brown hooded sweatshirt for guys or girls, and a new long sleeved white t-shirt for girls.  To see the new student clothing, go to: http://www.mtmrecognition.com/skillsusa/ and then click on the link that says Active Wear.
