Oct. 10, 2021 – The SkillsUSA State Standards of Excellence Program experienced growth in its fifth year as 38 states were recognized and received recognition. The purpose of the program is to ensure state associations have in place policies, procedures and structure on an annual basis that deliver a high level of service to membership. Group Visits Atlanta, Host City for the National Leadership and Skills Conference Leesburg, Va., Oct. 8, 2021 — More than 60 SkillsUSA State Directors and staff gathered in Atlanta Oct. 4–7 for their annual Professional Development and Training Conference. The conference centered on the successful transition of the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC) to Atlanta in 2022. More than 300 SkillsUSA students, teachers and state leaders from 19 states traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to participate in the Washington Leadership Training Institute (WLTI) advocacy conference. Many WLTI attendees described the annual event as nothing short of “life changing.” Students learned to become effective leaders and gained a broader understanding of how government operates.
