With a shared vision to bring the youth of today to the skilled careers of tomorrow, Skilled Careers Coalition (SCC) and SkillsUSA in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) are launching a development program to educate and mentor students about skilled trade career opportunities across the entertainment industry.

This year’s program will consist of a series of hands-on specialized trainings, guided content creation, and exclusive industry events to create opportunities for students to engage with industry leaders, gain real-world experience, and prepare for successful careers in the skilled trades.

“Most young people don’t realize all the places a skilled trade can take them,” said Mark Hedstrom, Co-Executive Director, Skilled Careers Coalition. “Like many industries, the entertainment sector has a high demand for skilled professionals. The partnership between WBD, Skilled Careers Coalition and SkillsUSA will help broaden awareness and inspire the next generation of students to join America’s skilled workforce.”

“At the core of WBD we are artists and masters of our craft, so we put immense value in creating pathways for the next generation of skilled tradespeople,” said Dan Dark, EVP of Worldwide Operations for Warner Bros. Discovery. “We look forward to working with Skilled Careers Coalition and SkillsUSA again this year to build awareness for roles that are increasingly integral to our business.”

SkillsUSA students have the personal, workplace and technical skills that employers are looking for,” said Chelle Travis, Executive Director of SkillsUSA. “We truly bridge the gap between education and industry ensuring the next generation of skilled professionals and leaders are career ready. Our partnership with SCC and WBD opens new doors for students and is a testament to the power of collaboration.”

The Skilled Careers Coalition and SkillsUSA first partnered with WBD in 2023 to showcase the power of connecting students with industry leaders. The students’ inspiring journey, from exploring studio operations to hands-on mentorship in post-production, was captured in the debut season of SKILLS JAM, highlighting the commitment across all three partners to bridge education and real-world expertise.
