Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Supports SkillsUSA Students as they Demonstrate Career-Ready Skills

Grant Covers Scholarships and General Support Leesburg, Va. — More than 500 students from across the United States will receive scholarships to attend a national career skills event online thanks to a grant from Harbor Freight Tools for Schools. The $115,000 grant will support SkillsUSA in their general operations and will provide scholarships for students participating in the Connect to My Future and National Leadership and Skills conferences in May and June 2021. 2020 Fine Homebuilding Scholarship Winners Announced

Fine Homebuilding has awarded 14 #KeepCraftAlive scholarships to SkillsUSA members studying in construction-related fields who plan to continue their education for the 2020-21 academic year. The $2500 scholarships can be used for further education including community college, undergraduate programs or industry certifications. The scholarship fund was created by Fine Homebuilding to address the skills gap, a disparity between the employment demands of a growing housing industry and a shortage of trained qualified labor. Leesburg, Va. — SkillsUSA, in the third year of partnership with Fine Homebuilding, is proud to announce the #KeepCraftAlive Scholarship winners. Twenty-four students, all studying in construction-related fields and planning to pursue continued education in the trades, received a $2,500 scholarship for the 2019-20 academic year. Selections were based on completion of an application, along with a 300-word essay and a letter of support from a teacher, administrator, SkillsUSA advisor or educational/professional mentor. The SkillsUSA Hope Fund was established in 2019 to provide emergency scholarships for individual students in crisis to further their trade education, and for chapters affected by natural disasters. The fund is building during 2019 and we anticipate opening scholarships in 2020. SkillsUSA executive director Tim Lawrence received a Founders Award as part of a CareerSafe event Feb. 22 to celebrate the milestone of 1 million students trained in safety.
